What is LCB Academy of Learning?
Established in July
2007, the Lake Charles-Boston Academy was designed to create a
center for extension learning services that expands and enhances the
educational, artistic, and career preparation of students throughout
the Calcasieu School System. The school is not designed to replace
or eliminate educational services at any school in the system but
rather to fill the void that may exist in a school’s curriculum. The
LCB Academy strives to be a model of high school redesign
initiatives operated on a district level in support of schools
within the district. The LCB Academy provides educational services
year-round and beyond the normal operational hours of CPSB schools.
Currently in its second year of implementation, the school provides
instruction for 428 students in coursework through four academy
components. The school serves students from the 11 high schools in
the system and from 7 middle schools in the system. The components
of the Lake Charles-Boston Academy are: Career and Technical
