Pre AP-Studio Art |

Class will meet two hours per
day during the Fall Semester. Open to Sophomore, Junior,
and Senior level students. Students scheduling this course
will also want to schedule AP Studio Art in the Spring semester. |
This
course will provide students with opportunities to develop and
enhance their art-making skills using a variety of media in
drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and black and white
darkroom photography, as well as, digital photography,
Photoshop, and alternative photography methods. Students will
work toward creating an original body of work that expresses
their own ideas, thoughts, and feelings. This collection of
works will be assembled into a portfolio. The portfolio
development is in preparation for the AP Studio Art course or
for a college entrance portfolio. Weekly observational drawings
in a journal are required. Guest artists may visit the art
classroom for demonstrations. Artists/mentors from the community
may work with individual students to develop needed skills and
techniques in a particular media for portfolio preparation.
Visits to museums and galleries will assist the student in
developing visual skills. |

is an in- depth look at 1D, 2D, and 3D art produced by the
student in multiple medias, concentrated around a central idea.
Students work will be compiled in a student portfolio which will
be submitted to the AP Board for consideration of college
credit. |

also schedule Art II in the Spring Semester. |
Students taking Art I will engage in a variety of 2-D and 3-D
art experiences that encompass art history, art criticism,
aesthetics, and production. A variety of media and techniques
will be explored to develop quality works for student
portfolios. Two dimensional processes will include pencil,
charcoal, marker, pastel, painting (acrylic and watercolor),
collage, digital photography, desktop publishing, and
printmaking. Students are required to maintain a sketchbook. Art
experiences in 3-D design will include pottery (hand built/
wheel thrown), sculpture, and hot and cold stained glass
processes. Students will learn the prerequisites needed to
excel in other art courses. |

the spring semester. Students scheduling this course should also
schedule Art I. Prerequisite: Student should have completed ART
I or have permission of instructor. |
Students taking ART II will engage in a variety of 2-D and 3-D
art experiences that encompass art history, art criticism,
aesthetics, and production. Works produced will lead to the
creation of portfolio quality works. Students will explore
career options in the arts and will search for meaning,
significance, inspiration, and direction in their own work by
viewing and examining works of art in museums, studios, and art
galleries. A variety of 2-D traditional and electronic media
and techniques will be explored including pencil, pen and ink,
charcoal, marker, pastel, painting, black and white and digital
photography, printmaking, computer graphics, fiber arts, and
collage. Students are required to maintain a sketchbook.
3-Dimensional design will explore hot and cold stained glass
processes, pottery, and a variety of sculpture processes. |
