Art I and II
|
Art I # A09191 (one full
credit) Students taking ART I
will engage in a variety of 2-D and 3-D art experiences that
encompass art history, art criticism, aesthetics, and
production. A variety of media and techniques will be explored
to develop quality works for student portfolios. Two dimensional
processes will include pencil, charcoal, marker, pastel,
painting (acrylic and watercolor), collage, digital photography,
desktop publishing, and printmaking. Students are required to
maintain a sketchbook. Art experiences in 3-D design will
include pottery (hand built/ wheel thrown), sculpture, and hot
and cold stained glass processes. Students will learn the
prerequisites needed to excel in other art courses.
Class will
meet two hours per day during the fall semester. Students
scheduling this course should also schedule Art II.
Art II #A09201 (one full
credit) Students taking ART II
will engage in a variety of 2-D and 3-D art experiences that
encompass art history, art criticism, aesthetics, and
production. Works produced will lead to the creation of
portfolio quality works. Students will explore career options in
the Arts and will search for meaning, significance, inspiration,
and direction in their own work by viewing and examining works
of art in museums, studios, and art galleries. A variety of 2-D
traditional and electronic media and techniques will be explored
including pencil, pen and ink, charcoal, marker, pastel,
painting, black and white and digital photography, printmaking,
computer graphics, fiber arts, and collage. Students are
required to maintain a sketchbook. 3-Dimensional design will
explore hot and cold stained glass processes, pottery, and a
variety of sculpture processes.
Class will meet two
hours per day during the spring semester. Students scheduling
this course should also schedule Art I. Prerequisite: Student
should have completed ART I or have permission of instructor.
