Commercial Media I
#A06301 (one full credit)
This course will introduce students to the commercial aspects of art.
Students will work with guest professionals; visual aides, examples of
commercial art, signs, ads in newspapers, magazines, TV, and online.
Students will participate in discussions, submit essays, and work on
group and individual commercial media design projects to meet course art
standards. Open to sophomore, junior, and senior level students.
Class will meet two hours per day in the fall semester. Students
scheduling Commercial Media I should also schedule Commercial Media II.
Commercial
Media II #A06308 (one full
credit) This course is a
continuation of Commercial Media I. The student will learn skills
required to become a commercial artist. Studio work is combined with
classroom instruction to develop student understanding of the
application of art to the design of commercial products for the purpose
of decorative, aesthetic effects and current styling. Software
applications and training will be introduced so students are able to
develop products electronically as well as traditionally. It is a
fast-paced and deadline-oriented program that specializes in preparing
artists and designers for careers in the world of design, communication,
and marketing. Students will engage in a real world curriculum driven by
high expectations. Prerequisite: Commercial Media I. Open to
sophomore, junior, and senior level students. Class will meet two hours
per day during the spring semester.
