2 or 3 Open to junior and senior level students This class meets two-or- three hours per day for the full year. This course prepares students to work with children, birth to 8 years of age. Emphasis is placed on enhancing the development of young children while providing early education and care. Foundation skill development assists students desiring to meet requirements for the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.   (2) 1-2, 5-6

Intro to Teaching Professions

Prerequisite:  2.5 or higher overall GPA and acceptance  by the STAR Review Panel.  this is a two hour course that meets each day for the fall semester.  Open to junior and senior level students.  Students scheduling this course may also schedule Family Science to complete a three hour block.

This course is a high school course designed to attract students to the field of education, provide information and field experiences relevant to pursuing a degree in education. 1-2, 5-6 (Fall)

 

Teaching Professions #A06330 1

Prerequisite:  Successful completion of Intro to Teaching Professions.  This is a two hour course per day for the Spring semester.  Open to junior and senior level students.  Students scheduling this course may also schedule Family Science to complete a three hour block

This course will continue the development of teaching skills begun in Intro to teaching Professions, emphasizing lesson planning and assessment development with opportunity for expanded meaningful field experiences. 1-2,5-6 (Spring)
Family Science #A09204 1 Students enrolling in Intro to Teaching Professions - or - Teaching Professions may also schedule this class if they choose to complete a three hour block.  This class will not be offered independently of Intro to Teaching Professions or Teaching Professions. This course is flexible in design and is structured to meet local needs.  In keeping with the education programs being offered at the LCB Academy, this course will focus on issues such as the teacher shortage, professionalism, and the creation of a professional portfolio.  3,7
