Networking Basics  #A07243

 

2 Prerequisites: Algebra 1 –AND- Physical Science. This course meets two hours each day for the full year. Students scheduling this course may also want to schedule Computer Forensics. An intermediate level course that teaches students basic computer networking. Students completing this course will be proficient at building a structured network cabling system. 1-2, 5-6
Routers and Routing Basics  #A07244 2

Prerequisites: Networking Basics. This course meets two hours each day for the full year. Students scheduling this course may also want to schedule Computer Forensics.

This course is a practical and technical introduction to the field of networking and focuses on initial router configuration, Cisco IOS software management, routing protocol configuration, TCP/IP, and access control lists.  1-2, 5-6
Computer Forensics I #A07601 1 This course meets one hour daily for the full year.  Students taking this course must also schedule Networking Basics to complete a three-hour block. This course is designed to teach the skills necessary to protect against threats to the security of computers, networks and the devices used in the information technology field.  This course will address general security concepts, communications security, infrastructure security, basics of cryptography, and operational /organizational security.  3,7
Computer Forensics II #A07610 1 This course meets one hour daily for the full year.  Students wanting to take this course must schedule Routers and Routing Basics. This course will assist students in mastering the skills necessary to launch and compete a successful computer investigation, from acquiring digital evidence to reporting its findings.  Curriculum will include how to set up a forensics lab, how to acquire the proper and necessary tools, and how to conduct the investigation and subsequent digital analysis.  3,7
Computer Systems and Networking I # A07286 1 Class will meet during 8th period (4:15 pm-7:00 pm) on Mondays during the school year. Open to  juniors and seniors. This course will prepare students in the area of computer and network security. Some of the primary tasks for this course are:  virus detection, removal and prevention, preventing unauthorized users from gaining access to systems and resources, cryptography, and organizational security. 8
